Melozhori is situated in the Overberg region of the Western Cape, close to Stormsvlei and less than 200 km from Cape Town. The reserve stretches across approximately 2,300 hectares of mountains, valleys and wilderness, creating an incredible backdrop for an intimate destination wedding or elopement.
It was the kind of place where the surroundings became part of the story.

That was one of the things we loved most about Stacey & Shayne’s day. They weren’t trying to recreate a traditional wedding. They created an experience that felt personal to them.
And one of our favourite moments was seeing them get ready together. Usually, wedding mornings involve the bride and groom getting ready separately, surrounded by bridesmaids, groomsmen, family and friends.
But with an elopement, there are no rules saying it has to happen that way.
Stacey & Shayne were able to share those quiet moments together — helping each other get ready, laughing, taking in the significance of the day and simply enjoying being together. It was incredibly intimate.
And honestly, we absolutely fell in love with it.

One of the biggest surprises for us was discovering Melozhori.
It’s easy to think you know the Western Cape after photographing weddings throughout Stellenbosch, Franschhoek, Paarl, Robertson and the surrounding Winelands, but there are still so many incredible places tucked away across the province.
The private game reserve combines luxury accommodation with a genuine wilderness experience. The reserve is home to a diverse range of wildlife and birdlife, with giraffe, zebra, kudu, eland, bontebok and other species found across the reserve.
